Windows of Memory – Socialist Modernist Block Painting

2021
100x80x2 cm
Oil on canvas

This is the block where it all began. From the 3rd floor window, I looked out and saw not landscapes of nature, but endless rows of concrete facades. Gray, monotonous, yet alive with hidden stories. Each window held fragments of life — orchids on sills, laundry swaying in the wind, curtains half-open to the world. That simple view sparked the urge to paint, to capture not only the architecture but the humanity behind it. What seemed ordinary at first revealed itself as a portrait of daily struggles, fleeting hopes, and shared memories. This block became more than a building; it was the starting point of a journey where concrete turned into canvas, and silence into stories.
