I am Magdalena Stavilă, a visual artist from Brașov, Romania. I studied sculpture at the Art High School and later graduated in painting from the Faculty of Arts in Oradea. My artistic practice unfolds in two complementary directions.

On one side, I paint socialist modernist housing blocks, which I see not merely as buildings but as witnesses of collective memory. Their grey facades carry the traces of an era and the subtle marks of those who lived behind them: altered balconies, improvised colors, flowers placed on windowsills. For me, these details are stories of survival, freedom, and the need for personal expression.

On the other side, my works explore the fragility and depth of the human being through a visual language that is recognizable yet infused with symbols and contemporary contrasts. I seek to capture hidden emotions, vulnerability, as well as inner strength, faith, and the relationship between the individual and the world. In this way, the blocks and the figurative works are not separate paths but two perspectives of the same reality: the places that shape us and the inner experiences that give meaning to our existence.
